Six Short Stories (1996) by Lior Navok is a 12-minute work for woodwind quintet, inspired by the distinct personalities and blended colors of the ensemble. Across six movements—The Meeting, Native Dance, Air, Fire Dance, Longing, and 1+1=11—the piece evokes scenes ranging from ceremonial dances to summer breezes and playful fughetta conversations. While the titles reflect the composer's personal associations, listeners are encouraged to form their own narratives. It is a vivid, imaginative addition to the contemporary woodwind quintet repertoire.
