Ten Bagatelles (2000) by Lior Navok is an 18-minute collection of short solo piano pieces—his first compositions for the instrument. Each bagatelle was written in a single session, conceived as a fast sketch akin to a Japanese brushstroke painting, capturing the spontaneity of improvisation in conventional notation. Varying widely in character and mood, the ten movements range from Appassionato and Drammatico to Vivace and Largo Sostenuto, forming a vivid cycle that may be performed in full or in selections, with Nos. 9 and 10 always played consecutively.
