SIX FOR A DANCE
for solo guitar

A Compact and Expressive Contemporary Work for Guitar Solo
Six for a Dance (2000) by Lior Navok is a 2-minute and 30-second solo classical guitar work structured in three sections—fast, slow, fast. Inspired by the energetic movements of a dancer and the warm, resonant character of the Ud during the slow section, the piece offers a compact yet expressive journey. Dedicated to Aaron Larget-Caplan, it is an evocative and engaging addition to contemporary guitar solo repertoire.

About the Music
Inspired by a dancer's movements, this piece blends energetic rhythms with a reflective central section based on the Ud. Ideal for professionals and advanced students, it serves as a characterful guitar solo for recitals.

Program Notes
In Six for a Dance, I envisioned a female dancer performing with energetic movements. The piece is structured in three sections: fast, slow, fast. During the slow segments, I drew inspiration from the sound and character of the Ud, the lute's Mediterranean cousin. Six for a Dance is dedicated to Aaron Larget-Caplan.
