Composed in 2024, Undercurrents offers a delicate yet profound dialogue for flute and guitar. Written specifically for alto flute and guitar amidst regional conflict, this piece juxtaposes the tranquility of a peaceful garden with the distant, persistent pulse of the outside world, avoiding grand drama in favor of subtle, fleeting moments.
 
This contemporary work for flute and guitar is dedicated to guitarist Luiz Mantovani and flutist Orlando Cela.

Program Notes
I composed Undercurrents in Tel Aviv during the regional conflict of 2024. From the refuge of my room, overlooking a peaceful garden, I was fortunate to find a space to create. Yet, the constant flow of news from nearby conflict zones cast a shadow, weaving a parallel reality.
The music unfolds in five interconnected movements. Beneath these delicate passages, a faint, persistent beat of a war drum pulses, not only reflecting the tumultuous world beyond but also hinting at what might become of my tranquil haven in the future.
