Saxophone Quartet (1999) by Lior Navok is a 15-minute work commissioned by the Fromm Music Foundation and first performed by the Raschèr Saxophone Quartet. Written for soprano, alto, tenor, and baritone saxophones, the piece explores the ensemble’s rich timbral palette through five movements and four recitatives—each highlighting an individual instrument while leading seamlessly into the next movement. The work blends homogeneity with individuality, offering a dynamic and expressive addition to the contemporary saxophone quartet repertoire.
