Program Notes:
Dialogues for soprano and percussion was composed as a semi-theatrical composition, not to be acted. Talking Doll is a short satire about humans who act like machines for the sake of formality. The word “Sargam” in Indian means Solfège. The syllables sa, re, ma, ga, pa, dha (not used here) and ni are equal to our do, re, mi. Shadowphobia, as the name implies, deals with the relationship between a person and his/her shadow.
