Abstract

Periscopes is a collection of twelve contemporary piano miniatures, each offering a distinct sonic world and character. Inspired by the image of a submarine rising to the surface in search of discovery, the cycle moves through contrasting scenes—playful, mysterious, lyrical, and atmospheric. Rather than forming a continuous narrative, each miniature stands as its own vignette, inviting the performer into a new musical environment. With its variety of textures and moods, Periscopes is a vivid addition to the modern solo‑piano repertoire, suitable for both recital programming and contemporary piano study.
