Biography – Short
The music of Lior Navok is regularly played throughout the world in prestigious venues such as Carnegie Hall, Berlin Philharmonie, Sydney Opera House, Frankfurt Opera, Staatsoper Unter den Linden, Southbank Centre and Konzerthaus Berlin by orchestras and ensembles as the Hannover Philharmonie NDR, Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, Jerusalem Symphony, Queensland Symphony, Bogota Philharmonic, Boston Modern Orchestra Project, Hong Kong Chamber Orchestra, Georgisches Kammerorchester, Cantata Singers, Raschèr Saxophone Quartet, Borromeo String Quartet, Hindemith Quintet, Collage New Music, TENM, Alea III and many others.
Navok has written over 70 works for orchestra, stage, choral and chamber music, commissioned by the Koussevitzky Music Foundation, Fromm Music Foundation, National Endowment for the Arts, Jerome Foundation, Morasha Foundation, Bochumer Symphoniker, Audi Sommerkonzerte, and many others. Prizes and honors include the Lili Boulanger Memorial Fund Award, Israel Prime Minster Award [twice], Massachusetts Cultural Council Award, America-Israel Cultural Foundation, ACUM [twice], CAP Award and many others. Fellowships and residencies include the Tanglewood Music Center, Cité Internationale des Arts, Aspen Music Festival and the MacDowell Colony.
Lior Navok has released five highly acclaimed CDs, described as “Dreamy and utterly gorgeous” (American Record Guide.) As a founding member of the “Butterfly Effect Ensemble”, Navok performs live-composition mainly as Ciné-Concerts. Keen on inspiring collaborations, Navok has worked with leading choreographers, actors and visual artists presenting his music in festivals such as Chaillol, Monadnock, Cape Cod, Felicja Blumental, Heimspiele, Maracaibo, Neuchâtel and Tanzzug.
He received his Doctorate from the New England Conservatory and Double Bachelor’s from the Rubin Academy of Music, Jerusalem.
