Program notes:
In Upon Hearing the Shimmering Lanterns I portrayed the visual image of shimmering and moving light sources seen from afar. As if hundreds of lanterns are held by mysterious, unseen people, who constantly move closer, afar, to the sides, unite into one large light source and disperse again into many individuals. Each individual lantern simmers slightly different from the other, some are dazzling, some are mellow and dim; some have a yellowish color, and some tend to be more reddish. Suddenly, these lanterns can disappear, as if masked by a cloud or fog, when they reappear they will wear a different form and intensity. Together, these lanterns create an orchestra of lights, which I translated into sounds.
